The weather is perfect and there are a ton of cool things to do in Cancun!
I spent 30 days living in Cancun and stayed in the Riviera Maya area. While I was there I had the pleasure of visiting Tulum, and Playa Del Carmen. I participated in a ton of amazing excursions and saw some pretty beautiful scenery. If you’re visiting Cancun, and don’t know what to do, this list of cool things to do in Cancun is for you!
Xel-Ha is an eco park/water park located in Tulum, Mexico. This park is full of adventurous activities including bicycles that you peddle through the air in the jungle, a lazy river through the jungle, snorkeling, and a lighthouse that allows you to climb to the top for amazing panoramic views of the entire park. Once you’re done getting your pictures and enjoying the views you can take a trip back down to the ground on their massive waterslide!
The park also includes many underwater excursions. One of my favorites was the sea trek. During the sea trek you will gear up in water shoes and a 75 pound helmet that allows you to breathe underwater. While you are underwater you will walk on the sea floor for 10 minutes. During this excursion you will see an array of tropical fish and underwater treasures. If you want something a little more exciting, you can try the dolphin sea trek where you will do the same thing as the sea trek except with dolphins! Don’t forget to bring your waterproof camera because trust me, it is a sight to sea. Pun intended.
The absolute best thing about this park is that it’s all inclusive! Once you arrive your food, drinks, alcohol, and activities are all included.

Xenses is is an optical illusion adventure park. This is one of the coolest parks I’ve ever been to and it’s all about testing your senses. While there you will get to use your senses as you walk through a cave in the pitch black! They also have a waterslide through the jungle, a bird flight zip lining adventure, a cave sauna, a clay pool, and a ton of optical illusions to experiment with.
Once you’re done with your adventure you can grab lunch at their snack bar, or cool off with a refreshing drink from their lemonade tree! Yes, you heard that right. They have a tree that pours delicious cups of lemonade. Yum.

If you want to swim, but don’t want to visit a water park or your typical beach, I’d recommend visiting one of Mexico’s Cenotes! A cenote is a deep, water-filled sinkhole in limestone that is created when the roof of an underground cavern collapses, and Mexico is full of them. They are beautiful to see and swimming in one is a ton of fun!
A really cool cenote to visit is called Cenote Dos Ojos. Here you will get the chance to swim in an underground cenote, as well as an outdoor cenote. The cenotes are equipped with ropes and cliffs for swinging and jumping into the cenote. Life vest are provided, but I do recommend bringing a towel and swim shoes because the rocks can be pretty slippery.
Gear up in your outdoor clothes and take a ride through the jungle on your very own ATV. After you’re done riding through the jungle strap up in your zip lining gear and fly through the jungle!
There are so many affordable excursions that include both ATV riding and zip lining. One of my favorites is ATV in Puerto Morelos. This cool adventure park has both ATV riding and zip lining, and when you’re done with your adventure you can cool off in a cenote. To top it all of, round-trip transportation and lunch is included with your ticket.
This was one of the coolest things I got to do while in Cancun. If you’re into good food and cave exploring, this unique restaurant is a must visit! Alux Restaurant is located inside of a 10,000 year old cave in Playa Del Carmen. When you arrive you will be immediately greeted with crystals, waterfalls, and stalactites.
They serve traditional Mayan food that was quite delicious, and after or before you eat you are free to explore the entire cave! The cave is full of picture perfect scenery and you may even see a bat or two. If you’re thinking about visiting Playa Del Carmen, you should definitely add this restaurant to the top of your list!
